About Us
Welcome! Filament Vintage Lighting started restoring light fixtures in Seattle in 2001. We started in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood and for many years sold at Pacific Galleries Antique Mall, Seattle's premiere antique destination. We've since relocated our primary location to Los Angeles.
Our first love has always been art deco lighting of the 1930s, but we've also expanded into arts and crafts and a bit of custom and industrial pieces. Restored items are listed online and come ready to hardware for a standard modern junction box. We've also got a back stock of pieces waiting for the right customer (or for us to have the time) so be sure to ask if you have anything specific in mind and don't see it online. We can also locate pieces through our network of professional contacts.
It all started with a large milk glass art deco globe with stenciled design nearly 20 years ago. The fixture had hung in an old Seattle school which had been demolished and found its way to an antique store where I saw it and fell in love.
Despite the metal work being quite worn and tired out I bought it knowing nothing about lamps, lighting, and restoration, and set to work making it beautiful again. Having always loved working creatively with my hands, I found myself always looking for the next project.
Refurbishing lighting had become a pastime, and that has developed into a passion for the well built, well designed, and unique pieces with history.
I love solid metal, real brass, bronze, chrome and nickel, and unique things steeped in history brought closer to their original condition. Over time what was a way to spend my free time developed into a business.
I’ve relocated my workshop to Los Angeles and sell fixtures on different platforms including Etsy and Chairish. I don’t have a retail store in Los Angeles but you can make an appointment to meet with me and see items at my work shop in person.
